New improvements in the amendments in Jamaica are allowing gambling through slot machines at Caymanas Track Limited. This is a huge step for Jamaica as it hope to draw in more revenue which will benefit the overall productivity and longevity of the track. Not only did they receive their license to operate slot machines, they have been approved to put into play nearly 500 slot machines. This is all thanks to the new amendments to the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission Act.
This is an exciting time for Jamaica as the Caymanas Track Limited will not be the only establishment to allow slot machine gambling. The Senator, Arthur Williams has gone through the proper channels to bering these slots more into the mainstream. The announcement for the event was made at the None Such Awards Gala which took place at the Terra Nova Hotel. Senator only made one restriction when putting the gambling amendment into play by stating, “that they do not interfere with the Casino Gaming Act and the geographical areas that are set out there in.”
The Caymanas Race Track is one of the major horse racing tracks in Jamaica featuring nearly 900 on track races per year. Out of these, at least 13 Jamaican companies sponsor most of these races. The gambling facility lies on 196 acres all which is owned by CTL and is practically owned and operated entirely out of the Partmore local area. Besides the one major establishment they also offer gambling bets throughout Jamaica in over 64 different locations across the island.
Besides gambling, the CTL also is involved in many local Community Development programs where they provide scholarships to children. This particular establishment has been around since 1904 and provided many gambling experiences throughout the island. It only became the productive racetrack that we know today after filing for bankruptcy and taking on new ownership in 1989. The current board of directors has taken shape since 2009 and has made a great deal of gambling strides for the company.
