JetCasino.com has been stirring up strong summer promotions in an attempt to keep online casino gambling at its highest level ever. Their latest promotion allowed a single winner to drive off in a dream car for the weekend.
The month of June saw online casino player Peter H. from United Kingdom win his dream car to drive around in for the weekend. Peter was so excited in choosing his Lamborghini Murcielago that his only reaction was to stand there and stare at it. It was reported that detention is car drew caused quite a stir. “The car was delivered and within minutes it was surrounded by people taking pictures and asking questions. I’ve never seen anything quite like it! I was eventually asked by the Police to move on because of the crowds it was attracting,” said the excited winner.
Paul Fitchford, JetCasino.com manager added: “This is the kind of response that we like to hear about when we arrange these Supercar experiences. Although some people may not like the attention, the cars that we offer are bound to attract it which adds to the overall thrill of experiencing one. The Murcielago is an incredible machine and everyone at Jet is pleased that Peter enjoyed every moment of driving it.”
Peter responded to JetCasino by saying, “Thanks very much again for arranging such a great prize. As a car fanatic, it couldn’t have gone to anyone more appreciative! I had a great time driving it - thank you so much for making my weekend one to remember!”
This goes to show that casino gamblers don’t necessarily need the money as an incentive to participate in promotions. For some of the casino players just the opportunity to try something new for when the chance at a dream car inspired them enough to continue gambling at casinos. The minimum required to participate in this competition is 25 pounds throughout each month. Once you are eligible to participate, the winner will then be picked from random in JetCasino’s dream car giveaway.

In the news lately has been discussion about large gambling debts being paid. The legislative executives have been working on a decision that will dictate whether or not markers will be held accountable as bad checks. As the economy continues to wane, casinos are working diligently to get back on track and collect the debts are owed to them by gamblers.
Now, a businessman from California has worked his way through the court system in Las Vegas and has been sentenced to two charges of theft and two charges of passing bad checks. Kirk Vartanian was charged in 2007 for 16 bad checks in order to obtain gambling markers at two Las Vegas casinos. The total charges for these markers equal $250,000.
Vartainian, a 40-year-old businessman from California slowly began to pay back his casino debts at the Venetian and the Wynn in Las Vegas , but still found himself at $241,000 worth of debt. According to his attorney, Patrick McDonald, Vartanian will pay $3771 a month for the next four years until his full payment of $250,000. At this time our team has only repaid $60,000 towards the casinos.
Apparently the casinos are not the only place where Vartanian has had trouble with the law. Charges of domestic violence and assault were Vartanian in Fresno California as he was arrested for confrontation with an unknown woman. According to reports from the police Vartanian and the unnamed woman were quarreling over $135,000 watch. The report also stated that he allegedly hit her and use a knife as a method of threatening her.
The situation is unrelated to the casino yet he is currently being charged with, however he did plead not guilty to the attack and has been set free on $155,000 bail. As for his casino case, eliminate hearing will be scheduled for January where Vartanian will not be required to attend. The case will be presided over by Justice of the Peace Nancy Oesterle.

International Game Technology released earnings for the 2nd quarter of 2009 and revealed that profits fell thirty-nine percent. Overall revenues decreased by 23 percent and the total number of slot machines shipped to casinos fell 31 percent. Investors and gambling analysts didn’t seem deterred by the news though. In fact, shares rose more than 14 percent soon after the company earnings were revealed.
IGT reported net income for the second quarter of $66.3 million, or 22 cents a share. Last year’s earnings for the same time period were reported to be $108.3 million, or 35 cents a share. Revenues for the quarter were $522.1 million, compared to $677.4 million for the second quarter of 2008.
When speaking to investors, Susquehanna gaming analyst Robert LaFleur said, “Overall, results were above our expectations on product sales. Product sales revenue declined … but was still well above our pretty low expectations for the quarter.”
MorganJoseph gaming analyst Justin Sebastiano assuaged some investors’ fears by telling them about IGT’s contract for 1700 slot machines for a new casino in Michigan. In addition, improvements were made in other company areas. Steven Kent, a gaming analyst for Goldman Sachs told investors, “The company’s cost savings are showing an immediate impact, and product sales strength is especially notable given replacement sales have been an Achilles heel for IGT and the sector.”
Over the last 8 months, International Game Technology has cut more than $100 million from their costs. Though job cuts were part of the cost-cutting strategy, only about one-third of the 161 projected layoffs have been made thus far.
Joe Greff, a JPMorgan gaming analyst, felt investors would be relatively pleased with the earnings reports, “given recently reduced expectations that this was going to be a ho-hum quarter.”
And CEO Hart reported that IGT shipped 2300 replacement slot machines just between April and June of this year – a 28 percent increase over the 1st quarter of 2009. Hart believes the reason for this increased is that casino operators are starting to realize older slot machines need to replaced. And Bill Lerner, a Union Gaming Group principal, said IGT’s reports “suggest stability in the gaming equipment sector.”

Throughout the construction of the hotel and casino at the city center, no one has stepped and admitted blame, however Pacific Coast steel is putting up $14,105 towards administrative fees for a settlement to the Nevada contractors board.
With such a large project on the horizon , MGM Mirage was forced to hire special private inspectors and did so through the Converse company. Converse was based out of Monrovia, California and was responsible for overseeing the construction of the $8.4 billion complex.
Two individuals have been cited for neglecting their duties on the construction of this casino and hotel complex. Scott Edberg and Joseph Glenn Laurente were employed by the Converse company incited for falsifying 62 daily reports which stated that the steel reinforcing was up to code. As of June 30, Charles Thomas a hearing officer, felt confident with his decision to pinpoint these two individuals.
According to Thomas, the reports stated: “all reinforcements were verified in accordance with sheet/details listed above for bar sizes, grades, lap lengths, clearances and quantities prior to placement.” Comments continued, “Converse’s assumption that the assigned Special Inspectors erred in their individual inspections is not correct.” Thomas then revealed that the two inspectors and not fill their duties to the casino and hotel structure and had not properly inspected and installation of the rebar.
Although the two individuals stated some minor reports on small problems, they did not issue any statements involving the steel reinforcement from floors five through 20 of the hotel and casino structure. Edberg and Laurente have since spoken out against their training through the Converse company. Reportedly, their superiors did not train them properly therefore leading to improperly inspecting the rebar and the steel reinforcement.
At this time Congress has not decided whether or not they will appeal the charges against them, however the attorney, Greg Gilbert stated that the company has “a great deal of disputes with the factual findings.”

The Las Vegas, CityCenter has undergone many changes in its construction, but still is under great scrutiny. Last year the Harmon Hotel ceased the construction of the CityCenter Hotels and Casinos as 15 floors were noticed for having flaws. These flaws caused MGM Mirage company to redesign a large section of the City Center and raised many eyebrows about the future of the project.
According to sources, the private inspectors for the structure of the Casino Hotels in CityCenter approved the steel reinforced structure, therefore allowing construction to continue. The county approved of these private inspectors and now the general public is concerned about how structurally sound this structure truly is.
The inspectors for the 61-story, 4,004-room gambling resort were hired by the Converse Consultants to thoroughly inspect the steel reinforcement of the overall structure. The reports claimed the inspectors fulfilled their duties in their thorough search. Later research has proven that these inspectors did not do a thorough inspection, even though they claimed it on their reports.
Due to the violations of Converse consultants and their improper inspections on the hotel and casino structure, they are no longer allowed to take on new projects in Clark County for six months. The consulting firm will first need the approval of Development Services Director Ron Lynn.
According to sources at the hotel and casino, an engineer for CityCenter noticed that Pacific Coast Steel had improperly installed nearly 15 floors of reinforced steel. The issue was never recognized by either one of the companies nor by any of the inspectors, and therefore closed down the construction. The hotel and casino suffered dramatically due to this discovery and therefore caused MGM Mirage to redesign the plans, making the building half the size of the original plans. This affected over 200 condo units and cause the construction to be further delayed.

Although these numbers came as a shock to many companies, Playtech’s parent company, Isle of Man revealed that its year on year numbers actually increased throughout this time.
Playtech does not seem to be concerned about this recent drop in online gambling numbers and is more focused on the increase from the year on year numbers. “The board is confident the company will deliver strong growth for the full-year to December of 2009 compared to 2008,” read a statement from Playtech.
The reality of the situation has led Playtech to realize that the online casino gambling industry will still be impacted by this year’s slow economy. “However, owing to the slower than anticipated start to William Hill Online and the general challenging economic environment impacting some of our licensees, the board believes that full-year trading will be below current market expectations.”
“The William Hill Online business is making encouraging progress after a slower than anticipated start to the year due to a prolonged integration period and difficult trading conditions. This will impact our expectations for the first year’s trading. However, Playtech remains confident that the William Hill Online transaction will prove to be transformational for the company and will make an important contribution to earnings in 2009 and beyond.”
