Safety and security as top priority for online gambling casinos. Many countries are trying their best to regulate these new online companies that are popping up every day. The problem with the Internet is that anybody can open a business at any time without showing any real credentials to the public. It is easy for them to sucker punch customers in the same way that they have done over the phones for years. Countries are trying to regulate these online casinos by creating a licensing program thereby showing that certain casinos are safe and secure for customers to place their wagers. With that said there are still hundreds and thousands of online casinos popping up throughout the world without a license to operate. In countries such as the United States that don’t allow online casino gambling, it is usually these companies that are sought out offshores that allow foreign gamblers the opportunity to participate.

That being said, this is exactly the trap they were looking for in order to get online gamblers information to be used and sold to third party vendors therefore compromising the private information of the players. This is become the largest problem in the most populated online casino arena, the United Kingdom. Information that is personal to players has been leaked for a variety of reasons, most of them dealing with money. Now that this issue has been brought into the open, governments will focus more on finding ways to protect their citizens from this type of corruption. Many sites use this type of as “fine print” when they hide under the guise of being able to use that information that most players neglect to read in the opening of a new account. Hopefully by exposing this type of issue, online gamblers will be more sensitive to which information they provide during the registration process. New ads are being created to process payments through a type of debit card that will not require any further information from the customers. This will most likely be the way that most gamblers go to avoid providing personal information that could later be sold to the highest bidder.

One of the major concerns of online gambling in dealing with sports is that the wagers can shift so drastically when placing bets in real-time. This has become a major concern for the tennis league in dealing with the US open. Currently one specific match at the WTA Tour is under close scrutiny as the performance of one player, Caroline Wozniacki cause a surge in punters as the game continued. According to the reports, the Danish tennis player began losing rapidly due to an injury of her hamstring and was told on the court by her father to stop playing the game and she would not be able to advance to the next round.

As the fans and punter Scott on to this discussion, it spiked the gambling wagers against her causing all that to go to her opponent. The father of the 19-year-old tennis player said in a conference that he was letting his daughter now the agent not matter the outcome of these teams and she would not be able to continue on to the next round. He then told her that it’s better to protect yourself and save her leg so that she can come back and play again, rather than further injure herself which could lead to larger complications later.

The investigation of the gambling wagers was sprung by fans that overheard the conversation of the father in the 19-year-old tennis player. According to Piotr Wozniacki, he stated to Caroline ,”Caro, it does not matter whether it’s going to be 5-0, 4-1 or 3-2. You can not play the next round, so you shouldn’t take the risk.” Although no one can blame the father for warning his daughter, the integrity unit is merely investigating every aspect of the match to see how the gambling wagers were affected due to this new information they received. The 19-year-old player could still face fines if it is determined that she was not putting forth all her efforts.

The largest concern by these venues is that the outcomes will be tainted by the sports wagering. According to the gambling commission in the United Kingdom, there have been many instances where improper activity has been stopped and prosecuted due to the careful nature of protecting sporting events.

A report was recently released stating that 56 cases of suspicious bets on sports have been spotted since September of 2007 in June of 2009. Although the number seems high, it shows that the forces in place are being meticulous about their jobs and protecting the safety and the environment for the rest of the sports fans. Another positive note is that the gambling operators themselves have been active participants in assisting the commission in order to prevent improper wagers. Out of these 56 cases 39 of them were reported by the operators and 17 came from sources outside such as the sporting leagues themselves. Included in his 17 were hit by the media as well as the general public who blew the whistle on some irregular activity.

At this point we cases are being brought forth for the full length of the investigation while 21 cases are being considered a little more closely with the potential of moving forward. 27 of these cases have yet to create any movement, and will most likely sit by the wayside unless more information develops. The top games for this type of irregular activity in the United Kingdom begins with football and horse racing but many other sporting events following.

France continues with online gambling regulations.

France continues to debate whether or not they will legalize online casino gambling as their recent amendment that has come forth could possibly extinguish many of the larger online casino companies. France’s national assembly is battling the legislation and should have come to a vote within the last week. As they are opening the doors to online casino gambling, they have also decided to regulate a tax that would allow the government to acquire 2% of the income generated by online casino gambling operators. This tax would be used to assist in programs that would prevent problem gambling as well as create protective measures for the safety and security of online casino gamblers.

These gambling operators would be required to be licensed for each individual sport that they will be providing wagering services. This type of system is gaining momentum throughout the world as the largest online casino gambling contributor, the United Kingdom is also considering this type of legislation in order to bring about more strict regulations and provide for online consumer safety. By creating these measures the government will benefit from the outpouring of profits generated by online casino gambling.

Problem gambling as well as under age gambling are two major concerns that affect every government around the world. These two concerns have to be addressed in order to continue to safely run online casino gambling venues regulated by the government. Many larger companies such as BEtfair who have been long established in the online casino market are prepared to stand firm in their stance against further pressure and regulation by the government. According to Mark Davies, managing director of Betfair, “It is fairly clearly discriminatory against the biggest and most competitive online operator in Europe. It is a slap in the face for the consumer.” This type of legislation would cause larger companies to acquire separate licenses where they now are only bound by one.

British Gambling Authority wants more Tax Income

Author: Chris  //  Category: Casino Games

British bookmakers are beginning to take a stand on the wagering in profits that have been occurring in the horseracing industry. According to the British horseracing Authority it has peaked numbers of over £3.7 billion in profits in the last year. This sizable account has not trickled down back to the British horseracing Authority, and therefore they’re fighting for their fair share of the profits. Last year the bookmakers only released £118 million of these gambling profits back into the governmental system, and now the horseracing Authority is looking to change their percentage.

As casinos and online gambling venues continue to open governments will need to adjust their taxes on these profits based on the continued growth and loss from year-to-year. According to the sports business group horseracing falls in line just below soccer as far as participate in and gambling options throughout the United Kingdom. This huge industry continues to grow from year-to-year as its recent expansion to £3.7 billion from the 2005 members of £2.8 billion.

These recent results are attributed to studies that were brought about by the horseracing Authority in order to generate more income from the gambling community. The numbers generated for gambling on horse racing in the United Kingdom placed them in second just under the profits generated by Japan. Japan’s total generated revenue from gambling on horse racing came to nearly £14 billion whereas the United Kingdom came in at £12.1 billion. Further investigation of the study showed that the United States and France draw an 8% of their money wagered in the horserace gambling arena.

Nic Coward of the British horseracing Authority has spoken out against the lack of funding from the second largest generating gambling ventures by stating that horserace gambling is largely thoughtful for a bulk of the money generated for leisure, agricultural and rural economies. As of this report, British horseracing has drawn in nearly £1.5 billion in tax revenues that will swiftly go to the government.

Online Casino Providers Strike Long Term Deal

Author: Chris  //  Category: Online Casino News

It has been noticed through out the world’s stock exchanges that when a good business meets another good business and makes a good deal, shares in the stock rise.  It is a fairly universal theme, and just plain good business.  The same holds absolutely true for the online casino, gambling and gaming industry.  When a popular site meets a top notch software provider, or two software giants hold hands, fruitful things for those companies are bound to happen. Recently, CryptoLogic and Rank Group saw just that very thing happen.

Shares for both CryptoLogic and Rank Interactive which is Rank Group’s online gambling division, saw a nice rise when they announced that they have agreed and penned a long term deal.  The agreement seems very simple.  CryptoLogic is set to supply Rank Interactive with no less than ten of its online wagering and betting games.  CryptoLogic has proven itself to be a leader in the online gambling and gaming industry.  They have in excess of 280 games.  They also sport one of the best casino suites on the world wide web.  Their licensing agreements are some of the most profitable in the online casino industry.

Rank Interactive looks so highly on CryptoLogic’s reputation that Gaming Director, Angus Nisbet said, “At Rank Interactive we have been looking to build on our success and expand our increasingly popular games offering. By striking this deal with Cryptologic our customers is gaining access to the very best and most innovative betting games on the market, enhancing our relationship and revenue prospects going forward.”  Truly this is a well sought after prize with online gaming.

CryptoLogic officials felt just as strong stating.  “Demand for our games remains strong as illustrated by this agreement with Rank Interactive, a well respected UK brand. With each new licensee, we open up a new recurring revenue stream that will improve our profitability and long term growth prospects.”  Clearly these two companies will make strong waves in the online casino industry for several more years.

Las Vegas Sees Less People in Their Casino Resorts

Author: Chris  //  Category: Las Vegas Casinos

It has been written about time and time again: The drop in the global economy has affected just about every industry.  Not just the big banks or the housing market or the automotive industry.  Everything.  With the economic slowdown, people and families have been reluctant to travel too far from their home or travel at all.  The tourism and hospitality industries are really feeling the pinch from this trend.  The casinos and casino resorts of Las Vegas, Nevada are also noticing a decline in tourists visiting their city.  Reports are in that Las Vegas suffered close to a 3.7 percent drop in visitor volume in August.  This is the fifteenth straight month of decline.

Visitor numbers for the casino haven for January through August of 2009 were about 24.4 million.  Not a bad number until you consider that there were 25.9 million visitors for the same time period the year before.  That is a drop of 5.8 percent.  In August alone, numbers fell from 3.1 million visitors to from 3.2 in 2008.

Room occupancy is seeing an even bigger hit.  August numbers showed that 81.4 percent of rooms in the casino resorts were filled.  Not bad until you consider that it is a decrease of 6.9 percent from the previous year.  There are some analysts who feel the downturn isn’t so bad.  Robert LaFleur said, “Occupancy levels are pretty much back to where they were. They’ve stimulated a lot of people to come to market with very aggressive pricing discounts.”  The good news, he continued, is, “People showed up and didn’t spend anything much on the rooms so they’re spending more on gaming.”  However most experts agree that the money was lost when the daily room rate dropped on average 21.5 percent.

Las Vegas, is also feeling the slide with a decline in the convention business.  With sin city being such a top name (and dollar) location, business are holding their conventions in smaller market areas.  They may not have the casinos but the rates seem more feasible in this time.
