Ireland is in the process of creating a new mega complex that will bring in tourists with different types of interests. Recently it has been revealed that the plans have been laid out to create €430 million ski and casino resort. With the creation of this new resort will be an onslaught of new jobs in the area. Reports predict that there’ll be nearly 1500 new jobs created in both construction and the day-to-day operation of the casino resort and leisure center.
The location of the new casino ski resort would be just outside of Dundalk, Ireland and is expected to be finished within the next seven years. They are claiming that this is a overly ambitious plan for the area, but the excitement of the casinos and the resort could draw in a large amount of revenue into the economy. The hopes of the complexes to draw in nearly 6,000,000 people a year into the gambling resort, and offering them a wide variety of entertainment. This has only become possible due to the loosening of the gambling laws in Ireland.
According to one of the developers, Sam Curran, the ski portion of the facility will be the first to open and draw in customers and then they will continue to increase their expansion as the months go by. This process has been going on for over 30 months but have scaled down the plans for the casino resort and began to plan on the different stages of development.
The casino resort is expected to include a 100 bed family hostel, 110,000 ft.² concert arena, movie complex, tenpin bowling in children’s zone, 40,000 ft.² surf and swim center, sports and leisure stores, restaurants and bars. The last phase of the resort will include the hotel accommodations as well as the international casino. The initial phase of this should start early next year with the hopes that the ski portion of the gambling resort will be open in 2011.
