Massachusetts has been suffering in the past year since the slot machines were taken out of the Raynham Park Racetrack. The gambling horserace track has been bringing in large profits for many years and was benefiting from the slot machines that they had on site. The Park is located right off of the major intersection which is 1.5 miles South of the Route 106 and 138. This Prak has been featuring gambling on many races and now without the support of their slot machines, they are hurting to keep businesses in the area on board.
Once the state mandated that the slots be pulled from the property, gambling became more scarce which drove away many customers from the surrounding local establishments. The mandate about the slot machine gambling has only been in effect for three months and already businesses are seeing a major impact. That is why the state is considering allowing four racetracks the ability to have slot machine gambling. This will be a huge step in the future progress of the racetracks.
Robert DeLeo is the house speaker who is pushing forward with the bill which is already starting to inspire some of the local businesses that they may actually be able to bring in more gambling business due to the machines. Slot machine gambling is very profitable due to the fact that it is low maintenance and it doesn’t require any personnel to run the machine. Once it is set, it just runs and generates great profits for players and the gambling establishment. Many horse and dog tracks are trying to adopt this theory of generating more revenue by adding machines. The only snag in the plan is cutting through the red tape that the state provides for the venues. The news in Massachusetts has been exciting for the townspeople as they will all individually have a vote in the upcoming bill.
