Mississippi Figures Out Gambling Regulation Structure

Many states and countries are trying to figure out how they can operate and take hold of their gambling operations as well as keep funding alive for these types of programs. As these programs can become very costly due to the nature of the products and the need to stay on top of all the latest technology that occurs in the gambling industry, the states are having an issue with how to bill for these programs.

Now Mississippi has developed a system to implement that will allow the gambling industry itself within the state to pay for its own gambling regulations. The taxes that will be collected on the revenue for the gambling properties will then be turned around to help bring down the cost of the gambling regulations. This will allow the state to oversee their own gambling industry.

Now the gambling commission of Mississippi has filed a proposal to the Secretary of State that will enact a 30 day review of the regulation fee structure in hopes of getting their approval. Within this proposal, the gambling companies will be assessed taxes base on licensing, work permits, inspections as well as equipment. All of these fees will then go into the gambling regulation. The voting for this type of process will take place after the initial evaluation and then should happen relatively quick in the month of May.

The gambling procedure was proposed as a bill by Gov. Haley Barbour which will effectively place the entire burden of the fees and structures on the gambling companies and none of the burden on the state. This will help keep the state money intact as well as help out the local economy. Mississippi has tried to formulate their gaming structure based on that of the State of Nevada. By following a successful model, they are hoping to generate a great deal of revenue without the state having to give any input financially.
