This is an exciting time in Vietnam as they have just opened their doors on their largest casino. The casino is built into an already existing resort that lies along the coastal city. The goal of this casino project will be to draw in many European tourists into this large resort area. At this point they are targeting those who live in close proximity to the area such as China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
The reason for hunting down this specific type of tourist is similar to the Carribean casinos where the locals are not permitted to participate in the gambling. The casinos are put in place solely as a way to generate more revenue through the tourism industry, but the government is keeping a tight clamp on not allowing their locals to participate in the illegal gambling activity.
The casino floor is expansive as it totals nearly 15,000 square meters and is a joint venture that has seen nearly $160 million being invested to make the project happen. This is a huge accomplishment in Vietnam as this project has been in the works for the past four years and now is opening its doors ready to turn a profit.
The casino project will be limited to the amount of tourism it will receive sue to the fact that only two flights will make their way to the gambling resort per week. These flights are offered through China South Airlines and will occur on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Those travelling will begin their journey from Guangzhou and fly to the resort. In an effort to increase their productivity, the next project they will be working on will be incorporating their own airline to efficiently carry passengers back and forth to the casino resort and 5-star hotel. The further expansion should help offset the restrictions on the players with visas.
